CURIE Academy 2014: Week-Long Design Experience

The photo on the left shows a CURIE Academy scholar demonstrating her two-input NAND gate assembled out of discrete transistors as part of lab 1. The photo on the right shows a group of three scholars working on their design project. This group implemented a smart grid system that automatically turned off lights in one part of the system when the power demand was too high in another part of the system and sent a text message to notify the power grid operator. For more information and photos see the CURIE Academy 2014 Design Project webpage.
