SunJul 13 6:30pm – 7:00pm Overview of Design Project, RPCC, Wendy Purcell Lounge
MonJul 14 1:00pm – 5:00pm Lab #1: Computer Engineering – Hardware Perspective
Scholars learned about computer engineering from the hardware perspective by incrementally building a simple calculator out of basic logic gates.
TueJul 15 1:00pm – 5:00pm Lab #2: Computer Engineering – Software Perspective
Scholars learned about computer engineering from the software perspective by incrementally building a mobile robot control application using the popular Arduino micro-controller.
WedJul 16 1:00pm – 5:00pm Lab #3: "Smart Door" IoT System, Design IoT System for Project
Scholars put hardware and software together to build an IoT "smart door" system that integrated an input IoT device, the cloud, and an output Iot device. Scholars then worked in groups to begin designing their IoT system for the design project.
ThuJul 17 1:00pm – 5:00pm Design, Implement, and Test IoT System
Scholars used an incremental design process to implement their IoT system with a mix of software and hardware, and then tested their system to ensure proper functionality.
FriJul 18 1:00pm – 5:00pm Test IoT System, Prepare Demonstration/Presentation
Scholars finished testing their IoT system, before they prepared a presentation describing the broad motivation for their IoT system, a real-world example of an embedded system or IoT device similar in spirit to their project; and their specific design. Scholars recorded a short video demonstration of their project in action.
SatJul 19 10:15am – 12:30pm Final Presentations by Students, Africana Center, Multipurpose Room
